If you look at the history of Australia a certain trend has begun to develop in more recent years in regards to the immigration-to-citizen ratio. The latest immigration news shows that an increasing number of immigrants are being let into the country to fill the much-needed skilled worker jobs that are available. This marks a dramatic change in the ratio. While in past times, such as at the end of WWII, the vast majority of the population was of British descent, the increased level of immigrants from around the globe is providing a shift in the demographic.
Unemployment is an issue in nearly every country around the world, specifically in the US and the UK. Australia is a hot-spot destination for people from these two Western nations because of the level of schooling and training they have acquired. The Australian government has continued to reduce restrictions and increase the level of temporary entry visas to allow migrants access to jobs while they are working on their residency permits, rather than requiring them to wait for a residency permit before they can enter the country. This ease of transition has led to a dramatically increased number of people coming in from other countries.
While other countries remain strict in their stance on immigrant workers, requiring people to go through literally months of paperwork before they can even be allowed to set foot on the country’s soil, Australia continues to set record-breaking standards to allow easier access to the country. As a result, working and moving to Australia has never been easier, and is beginning to make this country a melting pot of diversity as people from around the world flock to the Outback.
