Emigrate to Canada

Emigration to Canada has seen heightened security since the September 11th attacks in NYC. Due to the shared border with the United States , emigrating has become a more difficult process, but not an impossible one.

In order to emigrate to Canada it is necessary to obtain an immigration visa. There are a number of different ways to qualify for the various types of visa that Canada offers.

A Skilled Worker Class Immigration is designed to aid the immigration of skilled workers who qualify for positions that are in high demand. These are skilled jobs that are not being filled in Canada due to a lack of available labor from citizens. Having an advanced degree, experience in a certain field, English and/or French fluency, and other abilities that will help with settlement in Canada are a part of the desired skill set. Self Assessment tests to judge you skills are available online. Check http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/immigrate/index.html to see these assessments and to learn which professions are currently in high demand.

A Business Class Immigration is available to those who have experience running businesses. This includes executives, entrepreneurs, and investors with business plans that will uniquely benefit the Canadian economy. Self employed persons may also qualify for this class of visa based on what they will bring to the cultural and athletic life of Canada . This self employment can include buying and managing a farm in Canada .

Some Canadian provinces have separate immigration visas offered to people who have plans to live in those provinces.

Quebec also maintains its own selection process for those who wish to set up a permanent residence in Quebec . Applicants must first pass the Citizenship and Immigration Canada assessment before the Quebec immigration process has begun.

Canadian citizens over 18 years of age may sponsor family members to immigrate. The sponsor must agree to support the family for a period of 3-10 years, in order to ease the adjustment to Canadian life.
