Emigration to America is almost everybody’s dream. However, not everyone is given the chance to reach the land of opportunity, as there are a lot of processes to accomplish.

There are different ways to settle in America. Anyone can enter the country as long as all the requirements have been met. Obtaining the Green Card takes a long time; however there are circumstances where it can be acquired in just a few days. If an individual has a parent, a spouse, or a child living in the country, then it will be easy to migrate, as soon as the petition filed is approved by the US Citizenship and Immigration Services, and after passing the language and civics exams.

Professionals and skilled workers are also given the chance to be a citizen, if their employer had filed for them a H1-B US Visa. Businessmen and entrepreneurs who will be investing about $1 million in the US can also get a Green Card for about 18 months, and they can apply for citizenship in five to six years.

Among the luckiest people in the world who can easily obtain the US citizenship in just a few days are those who have the intelligence that can be of great help for the country, such as scientists from outside America working on a special project.

Applying for a Green Card is simple if you are married to a US citizen.

To secure a Green Card, you need to prepare certain requirements, such as a copy of your birth certificate, passport, arrival/departure I-94 form, marriage certificate, and your spouse’s birth certificate. The passport of your spouse is also a necessary proof that he/she is a US citizen. Both you and your spouse’s passport photos taken within the 30-day period of sending your application are also needed. Lastly, documents of good faith marriage are required.

To avoid much fuss and save time, you need to follow instructions.

Update your bills, including, car insurance, utility, home and mobile phones and others. Open a joint bank account.

For women, you must change your passport if you prefer to take your husband’s name, and you must provide a social security number card reflecting your new surname.

Accessing the US Citizenship and Immigration Services website may be helpful in obtaining information regarding US lawful permanent resident application. You can make a quick search for “lawful permanent resident” or “green card” to get all the necessary forms as well as instructions you need.

Here are the forms you need to fill out: I-130, I-864, I-485, and G-325A. To secure an I-693 form, you may need to schedule an appointment for a medical examination with one of the civil surgeons provided on the Immigration website.

After you have completed filling out all the necessary forms, you have to secure supporting documents for your “good faith marriage.” You can include your wedding, honeymoon, and family pictures, indicating what occasion and date, and other documents that will show that you have decided to build your lives together. All these steps will help you get your Green Card the easiest way!

For the medical professional who wants to stay in the United States in the long term, they must apply for the H1-B immigration visa. In order to do this the medical professional must have a firm offer of employment. The prospective employer must be in the United States. The applicant will have to prove that he or she has undergone all the necessary medical training to become a US medical professional. The H1-B applicant will also have to be in possession of a ‘license to practice’ medicine in their own country. In addition to this, it is essential to have a ‘license to practice’ medicine in the American state they want to immigrate to.

The medical professional who may want to immigrate permanently to the United States is allowed to apply for a ‘Permanent Resident Card’. This card is issued to all those who have lawful residency in the United States. The more common name for this is the ‘US Green Card’. This visa is specifically for migrants who are highly skilled and want to live in the United States. They must however carry out ‘prearranged roles’. Because it takes a long time to get a US Green Card, the H1-B is a way for a highly skilled migrant to get from a temporary visa all the way to permanent residency. US citizens have many rights and privileges, and a US Green Card is highly prized. Applying for the H1-B could be a start to permanent residency in the United States of America.

The Diversity Immigrant Visa Program or Green Card Lottery as it is commonly known is a program offered by the US government, in which 50,000 to 55,000 green cards are issued each year to immigrants wishing to live and work in the US.

To be eligible to apply for the Green Card Lottery, an individual must meet the requirements and be from a country with a low level of immigration to the US; this is typically for countries with less than 50,000 immigrants to the US in the past five years. The eligible countries can vary from year to year, with Russia and Kosovo now eligible for the latest lottery (DV-2010).

The Green Card Lottery or DV Program is run annually, and around 110,000 applicants are chosen through a computer based draw. Once an individual has been chosen, they must start their application immediately, as only the first 50,000 applicants will be issued with a green card. Once this is done the lottery closes till the next year.

Applicants who are successfully given a US visa through the DV Program are permitted to work and live in the US permanently. Their spouse and any unmarried children under the age of 21 are also able to study and work permanently in the US.

There are many ways in which a foreign national can get a Green Card, one of which is through applying for an investment visa. Simply put, you can apply for permanent residency by setting up a business in the US. By allowing investors to get into the US economy, more and more investors are attracted to invest in the United States.

Most of the rural areas in the United States are greatly benefitting from the foreign investments brought about by the investor immigration scheme of the country. An article in a Sioux Falls online publication talks about a dairy farm in South Dakota as a great example. The finances of that dairy farm come from four foreign investors, specifically South Korean businessmen. All four have invested about $500,000 each and have been given permanent residency based on the US EB-5 immigration program. Since the year 2005, the EB-5 program has contributed $30 million to the South Dakota dairy industry. That is already one third of the $90 million expansion that the state has planned for that industry.

South Dakota is not the only state enjoying the benefits of the investor immigration program. In the following months and years, more states are expected to take advantage of this great program. It is not just the US that continues to attract investors through immigration. There are similar programs from other countries such as in the United Kingdom and Australia.

On the other hand, the EB-5 visa may not be too clear or may have high requirements for other foreign investors since it has not attracted much interest since its implementation. In 2005, there were only 6,000 visas issued under the scheme. This may be a result of the $500,000 requirement as well as the many other bureaucratic requirements.

There are many ways for a foreign individual to apply for a green card or lawful permanent residence status in the United States. One of the many ways to do obtain a green card is through the green card lottery provided by the US. Each year, there are 50,000 to 55,000 green cards issued by the government of the United States. This is made possible by the Diversity Immigrant Visa Program which is more popularly called the green card lottery.

The Green Card Lottery involves a random selection of applicants through a computer-generated draw. When the selection is completed, the selected applicants, together with their spouse, and all unmarried children below 21 years of age qualify to apply for permanent resident status in the country.

The Diversity Visa Lottery Program is open to citizens from a country with low rate of immigration to the United States. It is not open for nationals of countries who have sent more than 50,000 immigrants to the US over the last five years. This lottery is held each year and selects around 110,000 applicants. Once selected, these 110,000 chosen applicants must start application immediately because once 50,000 green cards have been issued or if the fiscal year ends, the lottery will closes.

Once you are sent a visa through this green card lottery program, you may be able to live and work permanently in the US. Your spouse and unmarried children below the age of 21 will also be able to study and work permanently in the country.

More and more foreign nationals are considering migrating to Denmark as seen in the statistics for Denmark Green Cards. In year 2007, there were around 1,692 Green Cards issued by Denmark. That is a growth of 342 from the year 2006, a notable 25 percent increase. However, the Green Cards issued are expected to double, making it a 50 percent increase towards the end of 2007 to early 2008.

The Danish green card is issued to skilled migrants who are not nationals of the European Union countries. The green card in Denmark may seem to differ from the other green cards in different countries. The Danish green card is provided to migrants who come to the country under a residence permit in order to find work. This means that you do not need to have an employment offer to apply for a Danish green card. At the same time, it cannot be renewed and has a validity of six months. This is very different from other green cards like that of the United States which are for permanent residency.

The Danish Green Card is granted to petitioners who have qualified under a points-based system provided by Denmark. Their points-based system takes into consideration major factors such as the language skills, education, age, and work experience. Note that this Green Card is not a work permit, you are not obliged to accept any job, not until you find suitable work. Once you get an offer, you must apply for a work permit. Thus, the green card is just your legal status in the country while seeking for a job.

The Czech Republic is looking at creating its very own Green Card, having modelled it from the legal permanent residence card of the United States. The country is looking at introducing its green card to attract a number of skilled workers into the country. This green card is intended to attract skilled professionals from the non-EU member countries or states.

The proposed green card from the Czech Republic is said to be easily obtainable. When an applicant qualifies, he or she will be able to receive the card within 30 days. This card will allow them to work for an employer for two years.

The Ministry of Industry and Trade head, Karel Machotka has announced that there will be three groups of foreign workers who may qualify for the said card. The first group who may qualify for the green card will be the professionals who have university degrees. The second group are the specialists who have vocational high school qualifications focused on the technical sectors. Lastly, the third group who may qualify for such green card are the top management personnel.

The proposed green card of Czech Republic is to be presented to the government and if approved will be implemented sometime during the first half of the year 2008. The need for designing such a card was proposed by the business sector who had constantly complained about the lack of labour force in the country. Karel Machotka has specifically mentioned that the automobile industry will greatly benefit if the proposed Czech Republic green card gets approved.

A US Green Card is the more popular term for LPR or Lawful Permanent Residence. If you are a foreigner and you want to work and live permanently in the United States of America, you must apply for a green card. The Green Card provides official immigration status in the country. Below are the steps involved in obtaining a US green card.

To be eligible to apply for a US green card, you must have a sponsor to petition for you to come and live permanently in the US. A foreign national may apply for immigration either through a family member or through employment. The two groups are further subdivided into sub categories. However, the process and forms required will be similar

The things that you will need to prepare in order to obtain the US Green Card include the form I-485. This form is the application to register permanent residence. Aside from that, biometrics data will be requested from you as well as a medical examination sheet or the form G-325A. You will need two colored photos for the form.

If you are applying for a Green Card based on a family member, then you must submit the form I-864 to be completed by your sponsor. You will need to have the evidence of inspection or admission into the United States by showing your Form I-94 or the arrival-departure record. If you seek employment while the case is being processed, you can apply for a work permit by completing and submitting the form I-765.

Aside from these, you will also have to pay the respective application fees. Other forms may be required from you depending on the classification of the immigration petition you are undergoing. You may check with your local US embassy or with the USCIS.
