Health Care Jobs No Longer on UK’s National Shortage List
Over the past few years, one of the most important industries included on UK’s national shortage list is health care. United Kingdom seeks foreign professionals to accept health care jobs their. By August, 2008, there will be around 38 jobs under the healthcare category to be removed from the country’s National Shortage Occupation List or NSOL.
When deciding whether a certain occupation can qualify for work permit or working visa approvals of a certain foreign professional, the shortage occupation list can be a great reference. Remember that there are certain requirements to be approved for a working visa or working permit to the UK especially if you are a citizen of a non-European Economic Area (EEA) country. If the job you are being offered is included in the shortage list, then there is a great chance you will be approved provided you complete the other documents required. Thus, previously, most healthcare professionals go through the process with a breeze as more often than not, these applicants get approved right away.
In 2008 however, 38 healthcare jobs have already been removed from the shortage. These healthcare positions, however, must undergo a full resident labour market needs test. It requires the employer to submit proof that they have advertised the certain healthcare jobs and that there is no UK resident or EEA national who can fill the position.
