According to recent surveys conducted in the country, over ninety percent of New Zealanders believe that skilled migrants contribute to the growth and prosperity of their country. Eighty percent of the people surveyed believe that skilled migrants would improve the current New Zealanders way of live. They also believe that these migrants would improve the country’s social diversity.

In the same survey, nine out of ten of its citizens see that there is a massive skills shortage in their country. And they feel that their government should create programs that would entice their skilled citizens working overseas to come back and work in their country. Along with this, they feel that there should be more incentives given to the skilled Kiwis in their country to discourage them from seeking work abroad but rather stay and work in New Zealand. Fifty-nine percent of New Zealanders believe that tax incentives would be a big factor in helping the cause, while some believe that resettlement aid and help in buying their homes would help a lot.

Even though New Zealanders support migration, they feel that the English language requirement should not be removed. The New Zealand government recently made adjustments to their immigration policies to encourage more skilled worker migration to the country. They have adjusted scoring or point earnings for the New Zealand’s Skilled Migrant Category. Adjusting the scoring would help more skilled workers to pass the migrant score system, thereby allowing more skilled workers to migrate into the country. They also give international students one year after graduation to find a job.
