Canada is a rapidly growing country, and its government is aware that there are experts from around the globe who are skilled in their various fields who can help facilitate the growth. Recent changes to the skilled worker requirements for immigrants to Canada only add to the ease with which you can find a job.
The Human Resources and Skills Development Canada (HRSDC) has a unique role in the Canadian immigration process. They are there to insure that Canadians have been given a fair chance at the job before a call goes out to players from other countries around the globe. But with the recent changes, the HRSDC has made it increasingly easier for people to qualify for those jobs.
While many countries require an employer to wait for months before they are allowed to potentially hire from another country once permission has been granted by the government, the HRSDC has cut down the waiting time to only 14 days for Canadian employers, once they have gone through the mandatory three month time limit prior to filing for a permit to hire a foreigner. However, there are several rules and regulations in place to insure that the employer isn’t just recruiting with half-measures. If they want to pass the 14 day mark, they have to follow the rules to the very letter, and depending on the jobs they are hiring for, the regulations that modify the 14 day limit may change.
More information can be found at http://www.canadavisa.com/new-requirements-canadian-employers-hiring-foreign-skilled-workers.html, but what is probably the most important thing to note is that while Canadian employers must try for at least three months to hire locally before they hire from abroad, the 14 day period after they are granted permission to look abroad is an amazing change which is helping shape Canada into one of the premier immigration destinations.
