Work Permits

Work permits are issued to people who have been given permission to work in a country where they do not hold citizenship.

An application for a UK work permit usually takes three weeks, however more complicated applications may take longer to process. Applicants are advised to check that they have filled out their application forms thoroughly, as this could cause a delay. As well as the application form, the individual has to send a valid passport or ID card, two passport photos, a confirmation letter from the employer they will be working for and a pay small fee.

Work permits in the US are slightly different and are split into two categories; Permits for people immigrating as permanent workers and permits for those wishing to work in the US on a temporary basis. For individuals wishing to work as permanent immigrants, there are several different permits EB-1 to EB-5.

EB-1 and EB-2 permits are for highly trained and exceptionally talented individuals. EB-3 permits are for applicants who are skilled and unskilled including professionals. The EB-4 permit is for people who are working in religious vocations and EB-5 is for those who wish to enter the US for entrepreneurial opportunities and can contribute capital and jobs for US residents.
